Methodology, software & labs

How you'll learn

The programme is 100% online on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. There are no fixed timetables: you progress at your own pace within each intake, so you can combine it with your job.

Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is BlueSky, Python with traffic, OpenSky Network, EUROCONTROL BADA and PyTorch, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Exercises are based on real procedures: predicting arrival times at an airport, conflict resolution with agents in BlueSky and efficiency analysis of real trajectories. Assessment is continuous by module plus the final project.

Standards covered: Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2017/373, Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2021/664, ICAO Doc 4444 PANS-ATM, ICAO Doc 9854, EASA Artificial Intelligence Concept Paper Issue 2, EUROCONTROL E-OCVM 3.0, Regulation (EU) 2024/1689.

Assigned technical tutor:every module ends with a deliverable that your tutor marks individually.
Standards-based learning:guided reading of Regulation (EU) 2017/373, Regulation (EU) 2021/664 and ICAO Doc 4444 PANS-ATM applied to real cases, not as a theoretical annex.
Industry software:BlueSky, Python with traffic, OpenSky Network, EUROCONTROL BADA, PyTorch, in free, academic or evaluation versions.
Final project:an AI application for simulated air traffic, from problem definition and data collection to simulator integration and evaluation, reviewed by your tutor.
Flexible format:100% online, no fixed timetables, compatible with full-time work.
Capstone project

Build it end to end

Your final project follows the real engineering workflow, step by step, reviewed by your tutor.

Define the ATM problem
Frame an operational air traffic problem and the data sources needed to address it.
Collect and process data
Gather and clean ADS-B, flight plan and performance data for the case.
Build the model
Develop a predictive or decision model, such as ETA prediction or conflict resolution.
Integrate and evaluate
Integrate the model into a simulator and assess it with safety and efficiency metrics.
Final project
Document the explainability analysis and technical results, and present the report for your tutor's final review.
