How you'll learn
100 % online training on the SEIUM Institute campus, with downloadable material, recorded lectures and a dedicated technical tutor. No fixed timetable: students progress at their own pace within the intake, which makes it possible to combine study with work.
Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is AutoCAD, MATLAB, Python (pandas), Advanced Excel, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Tests are studied using real procedures for ultrasonic rail inspection, switch geometry control and rail weld testing. Assessment is continuous, module by module, plus the final integrating project.
Build it end to end
Your final project follows the real engineering workflow, step by step, reviewed by your tutor.
Relate rail metallurgy to its in-service behaviour.
Carry out and control aluminothermic welds.
Understand the flash butt welding process.
Apply stress release in jointless track.
Describe the geometry and components of switches and crossings.
Where this takes you
