Postgraduate Diploma in Active Protection Systems (APS) and Certification Standards
Online 800-hour Postgraduate Diploma in Active Protection Systems (APS) and Certification Standards. 8 modules covering STANAG 4569 (vehicle protection levels), MIL-STD-882E (system safety) and MATLAB/Simulink. Assigned tutor and open enrolment.
Take the controls.
Run a real engineering trade-off from this field. Move the sliders, watch the model react in real time and beat the challenge.
What you will be able to do
Describe conceptually the architecture of active protection systems.
Explain the role of sensors and detection in these systems.
Analyse the risks to own personnel and collateral damage.
Apply the principles of functional safety and system safety.
Interpret the applicable qualification and certification processes.
Plan vehicle integration and environmental testing.
Assess the ethical, legal and export control framework.

How you'll learn
100% online training on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. No fixed timetable: students progress at their own pace within the intake, making it possible to combine with work.
Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is MATLAB/Simulink, Cameo Systems Modeler (SysML), Python, ANSYS, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Workshops are based on real risk-analysis procedures for own and third-party personnel, documentary review of qualification, and environmental and electromagnetic compatibility testing. Assessment is continuous by module, plus the final integrating project.
Build it end to end
Your final project follows the real engineering workflow, step by step, reviewed by your tutor.
Describe conceptually the architecture of active protection systems.
Explain the role of sensors and detection in these systems.
Analyse the risks to own personnel and collateral damage.
Apply the principles of functional safety and system safety.
Interpret the applicable qualification and certification processes.
