Methodology, software & labs

How you'll learn

100% online training on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. There are no fixed timetables: you progress at your own pace within the intake, so you can combine it with your job.

Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is Cameo Systems Modeler, Capella, IBM Rhapsody, Sparx Enterprise Architect and MATLAB/Simulink, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Testing is studied on real procedures for modelling a flight management system, simulating the operating modes of a radar and analysing the impact of requirement changes. Assessment is continuous by module, plus the final project.

Standards covered: ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288:2023, OMG SysML v1.7, SAE ARP4754B, RTCA DO-331 / EUROCAE ED-218, ISO/IEC/IEEE 42010:2022, OMG ReqIF 1.2, OMG SysML v2.0.

Assigned technical tutor:every module ends with a deliverable that your tutor marks individually.
Standards-based learning:guided reading of ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288:2023, OMG SysML v1.7 and SAE ARP4754B applied to real cases, not as a theoretical annex.
Industry software:Cameo Systems Modeler, Capella, IBM Rhapsody, Sparx Enterprise Architect and MATLAB/Simulink, in free, academic or evaluation versions.
Final project:a complete SysML model of an avionics system, from operational context to documentation generated from the repository, reviewed by your tutor.
Flexible format:100% online, no fixed timetables, compatible with full-time work.
Capstone project

Build it end to end

Your final project follows the real engineering workflow, step by step, reviewed by your tutor.

Scope the system
Select the avionics system, define the model scope and its operational context with external actors.
Model the requirements
Build a requirements model with full traceability.
Define the architectures
Develop the functional and physical architecture with detailed interfaces.
Simulate and trade off
Run executable simulation scenarios and write the trade study report.
Final project
Generate the documentation from the repository and present the project for final review with your tutor.
