Methodology, software & labs

How you'll learn

Training is 100% online on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. There are no fixed timetables: you progress at your own pace within each intake, so the programme fits alongside your job.

Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is Halcon, Cognex VisionPro, PolyWorks Inspector, Minitab and OpenCV, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Case studies are based on real procedures: non-contact measurement of diameters and positions, R&R studies of vision systems and in-line inspection of machined parts. Assessment is continuous by module, plus the final integrating project.

Standards covered: ASME Y14.5-2018, ISO 1101:2017, ISO 5459:2011, ISO 14405-1:2016, ISO 14253-1:2017, ISO 10360-6:2001, VDA 5, AIAG MSA 4th edition

Assigned technical tutor:every module ends with a deliverable that your tutor marks individually.
Standards-based learning:guided reading of ASME Y14.5, ISO 1101 and ISO 5459 applied to real cases, not as a theoretical annex.
Industry software:Halcon, Cognex VisionPro, PolyWorks Inspector, Minitab and OpenCV, in free, academic or evaluation versions.
Final project:a vision-based dimensional inspection system for a real drawing, from tolerance analysis and system design to GD&T evaluation, capability study and statistical control plan, reviewed by your tutor.
Flexible format:100% online, no fixed timetables, compatible with full-time work.
