Methodology, software & labs

How you'll learn

Delivered 100% online on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. There are no fixed timetables: you progress at your own pace within each intake, so the programme fits around your job.

Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is PolyWorks, ZEISS CALYPSO, ZEISS INSPECT, Hexagon PC-DMIS and Minitab, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Practical work is based on real procedures: programming measurements on a coordinate measuring machine, optical scanning and comparison with CAD, and capability studies of measurement processes. Assessment is continuous by module, plus the final capstone project.

Standards covered: ISO 10360-2, ISO 10360-8, ISO 25178-2, ISO 21920-2, ISO 14253-1, VDI/VDE 2634-2, VDA 5, ISO/IEC 17025.

Assigned technical tutor:every module ends with a deliverable that your tutor marks individually.
Standards-based learning:guided reading of ISO 10360-2, ISO 10360-8 and ISO 25178-2 applied to real cases, not as a theoretical annex.
Industry software:PolyWorks, ZEISS CALYPSO, ZEISS INSPECT, Hexagon PC-DMIS and Minitab, in free, academic or evaluation versions.
Final project:a metrology and validation project for a real component, from measurement plan and uncertainty analysis to assembly validation and metrology report, reviewed by your tutor.
Flexible format:100% online, no fixed timetables, compatible with full-time work.
Capstone project

Build it end to end

Your final project follows the real engineering workflow, step by step, reviewed by your tutor.

Component and requirements
Define the component and its dimensional and surface requirements.
Measurement plan
Draw up the measurement plan and select the measuring systems.
Measurement and uncertainty
