Methodology, software & labs

How you'll learn

Training is 100% online on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable materials, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. There are no fixed timetables: you progress at your own pace within the intake, making it compatible with work.

Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is Skyworks ClockBuilder Pro, TI Clock Tree Architect, Keysight EZJIT and PCI-SIG SigTest, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Tests are studied on real procedures for jitter decomposition with an oscilloscope, MTIE and TDEV measurement in network synchronisation, and jitter budgets for serial links. Assessment is continuous by module plus the final project.

Standards covered: ITU-T G.8262, ITU-T G.8273.2, IEEE 1588-2019, ITU-T G.8275.1, PCI Express Base Specification 5.0, IEEE 802.3-2022, JEDEC JESD65B, IEEE 1139-2022.

Assigned technical tutor:every module ends with a deliverable that your tutor marks individually.
Standards-based learning:guided reading of ITU-T G.8262, ITU-T G.8273.2 and IEEE 1588-2019 applied to real cases, not as a theoretical annex.
Industry software:Skyworks ClockBuilder Pro, TI Clock Tree Architect, Keysight EZJIT and PCI-SIG SigTest, in free, academic or evaluation versions.
Final project:a jitter budget project covering clock tree architecture, per-interface budgets, component selection and validation measurements, reviewed by your tutor.
Flexible format:100% online, no fixed timetables, compatible with full-time work.
Capstone project

Build it end to end

Your final project follows the real engineering workflow, step by step, reviewed by your tutor.

Jitter budget per interface
Build the jitter budget for each interface with margins.
Component selection and simulation
Select the clock components and simulate the tree.
Validation measurements
Measure jitter and skew to validate the margins.
Final project
