Methodology, software & labs

How you'll learn

Training is 100% online on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. There are no fixed timetables: you progress at your own pace within the intake, so the programme fits around your job.

Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is TensorFlow Lite Micro, STM32Cube.AI, Edge Impulse, Apache TVM and ONNX Runtime, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Exercises are based on real procedures: measuring latency and power consumption on development boards, comparing quantisation and pruning techniques, and numerical parity testing between PC and microcontroller. Assessment is continuous by module, plus the final capstone project.

Standards covered: MLCommons MLPerf Tiny, ONNX 1.x, ISO/IEC 23053:2022, IEC 61508, Regulation (EU) 2024/2847, ETSI EN 303 645.

Assigned technical tutor:every module ends with a deliverable that your tutor marks individually.
Standards-based learning:guided reading of MLPerf Tiny, ONNX and ISO/IEC 23053 applied to real cases, not as a theoretical annex.
Industry software:TensorFlow Lite Micro, STM32Cube.AI, Edge Impulse, Apache TVM and ONNX Runtime, in free, academic or evaluation versions.
Final project:a compressed model deployed and validated on a microcontroller or NPU, with a trade-off analysis and product proposal, reviewed by your tutor.
Flexible format:100% online, no fixed timetables, compatible with full-time work.
Capstone project

Build it end to end

Your final project follows the real engineering workflow, step by step, reviewed by your tutor.

Define use case and hardware
Set the constraints of the use case and select the target MCU or NPU.
Train a reference model
Build an efficient baseline architecture for the task.
Compress the model
Apply quantisation, pruning and distillation while recovering accuracy.
Compile and validate on device
Deploy with an embedded runtime and measure accuracy, latency and energy.
Final project
Analyse the trade-offs, write the product proposal and present it to your tutor.
