Methodology, software & labs

How you'll learn

Training is 100% online on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. There are no fixed timetables: you progress at your own pace within each intake, so the programme fits alongside your job.

Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is Agisoft Metashape, COLMAP, CloudCompare, Open3D and GOM Inspect, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Case studies are based on real procedures: calibration of cameras and stereo systems, photogrammetric measurement of large parts with targets and point cloud processing for inspection. Assessment is continuous by module, plus the final integrating project.

Standards covered: VDI/VDE 2634 Blatt 1, VDI/VDE 2634 Blatt 2, ISO 10360-13:2021, JCGM 100:2008 (GUM), ASTM E2807 (E57 format), ASTM E3125-17, ISO 10360-8:2013

Assigned technical tutor:every module ends with a deliverable that your tutor marks individually.
Standards-based learning:guided reading of VDI/VDE 2634 Blatt 1, VDI/VDE 2634 Blatt 2 and ISO 10360-13 applied to real cases, not as a theoretical annex.
Industry software:Agisoft Metashape, COLMAP, CloudCompare, Open3D and GOM Inspect, in free, academic or evaluation versions.
Final project:a complete photogrammetric measurement of an industrial part, from network design and calibration to point cloud processing, uncertainty evaluation and the measurement report, reviewed by your tutor.
Flexible format:100% online, no fixed timetables, compatible with full-time work.
Capstone project

Build it end to end

Your final project follows the real engineering workflow, step by step, reviewed by your tutor.

Part and network design
Define the part and its tolerances and design the measurement network.
System calibration
Calibrate the camera system with traceable scale references.
Capture and reconstruction
Capture the images, run the bundle adjustment and generate the point cloud.
Processing and uncertainty
Process and analyse the point cloud and evaluate the measurement uncertainty.
Final project
A measurement report, written up with a presentation and reviewed by your tutor.
