Methodology, software & labs

How you'll learn

100% online training on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. No fixed timetables: you progress at your own pace within each intake, so it can be combined with work.

Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is MIDAS Civil, SOFiSTiK, LARSA 4D, CSiBridge and Ansys Fluent, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Practical work is based on real procedures: construction stage analysis, wind tunnel aerodynamic testing and optimisation of stay cable forces. Assessment is continuous by module, plus the final integrating project.

Standards covered: EN 1993-1-11, PTI DC45.1-18, fib Bulletin 30, EN 1991-1-4, EN 1992-2, EN 1993-2, IAP-11.

Assigned technical tutor:every module ends with a deliverable that your tutor marks individually.
Standards-based learning:guided reading of EN 1993-1-11, PTI DC45.1-18 and fib Bulletin 30 applied to real cases, not as a theoretical annex.
Industry software:MIDAS Civil, SOFiSTiK, LARSA 4D, CSiBridge and Ansys Fluent, in free, academic or evaluation versions.
Final project:The preliminary design of a cable-stayed bridge, with construction stage analysis and stay cable and aerodynamic checks, reviewed by your tutor.
Flexible format:100% online, no fixed timetables, compatible with full-time work.
Capstone project

Build it end to end

Your final project follows the real engineering workflow, step by step, reviewed by your tutor.

Analyse the site
Define the site constraints and choose the bridge type.
Size and model the bridge
Carry out preliminary sizing and build the structural model.
Analyse construction stages
Run the construction stage analysis and optimise stay cable forces.
Check cables and aerodynamics
Verify the stay cables and the aerodynamic response.
Final project
Present the construction process and design in a report reviewed by your tutor.

A SEIUM Institute certificate, awarded on passing the continuous assessment and the final project. It is SEIUM's own qualification, not an official state degree; its recognition depends on the programme completed and the regulations of each country.

Yes. Modules passed are recognised in a higher programme in the same area (postgraduate diploma or master's). Ask about the recognition policy when you enrol.

No prior qualification is required; you need a computer able to run the programme software and English sufficient to read technical standards.

Start dates are set by SEIUM's faculty for each intake. Our admissions team will confirm the next available date when you apply.
