Capacity management and sequencing course
Online course of 300 hours in capacity management and sequencing. 6 modules covering ATM system capacity, ATFCM and demand management, arrival and departure sequencing, runway optimisation and A-CDM, with an assigned technical tutor.
Take the controls.
Run a real engineering trade-off from this field. Move the sliders, watch the model react in real time and beat the challenge.
What you will be able to do
Calculate runway and sector capacity under different conditions.
Apply ATFCM measures to balance demand and capacity.
Design sequencing strategies with AMAN, DMAN and point merge.
Formulate optimisation models for aircraft sequencing.
Implement A-CDM processes and milestones.
Assess delay, punctuality and predictability indicators.
Propose capacity improvements for a real airport.

How you'll learn
Training is 100% online on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. There are no fixed timetables: you progress at your own pace within the intake, so the programme can be combined with work.
Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is EUROCONTROL NEST, AirTOp, Python with PuLP and MATLAB, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Exercises are based on real procedures: runway capacity calculation in different configurations, optimisation of arrival sequences and analysis of an airport's A-CDM milestones. Assessment is continuous by module, plus the final project.
Standards covered: Regulation (EU) 255/2010 on air traffic flow management, Implementing Regulation (EU) 2021/116 Common Project One, Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019/123 on the Network Manager, ICAO Doc 9971 Manual on Collaborative Air Traffic Flow Management, Regulation (EEC) 95/93 on slot allocation, Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019/317 on performance and charging, EUROCONTROL Airport CDM Implementation Manual.

Frequently asked questions
The programme totals 300 hours over 3 months. You set your own pace within each intake, and your tutor helps you plan the workload around your job.
You work with EUROCONTROL NEST, AirTOp, Python with PuLP and MATLAB, using free, academic or evaluation versions. Your tutor indicates the free alternative wherever one exists.
A SEIUM Institute certificate, awarded on passing the continuous assessment and the final project. It is SEIUM's own qualification, not an official state degree; its recognition depends on the programme completed and the regulations of each country.
Yes. Modules passed are recognised in a higher programme in the same area (postgraduate diploma or master's). Ask about the recognition policy when you enrol.
No prior qualification is required; you need an internet connection, a computer able to run the programme software and English sufficient to read technical standards.
