HV security protocols course in EV — studying from South Africa

South Africa's transition to electromobility is gaining momentum, with automotive manufacturers evaluating electric and hybrid models and local battery and hydrogen research under way. The country has significant mineral resources, including platinum group metals relevant to fuel cells, and universities and the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research support work on energy storage and hydrogen technologies. Government policy on the energy transition shapes investment in charging infrastructure and related industries. Engineers in this field work across vehicle systems, power electronics and energy storage.

Fees for South Africa: 15,700 R (South African rand), with instalments and employer sponsorship available.

Relevant bodies in South Africa

Questions from South Africa

Are SEIUM Institute programmes recognised by ECSA?

SEIUM Institute's programmes are its own private qualifications and are not official state degrees. The Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) decides on professional registration, so please check directly with ECSA how your studies and experience will be assessed.

Do I need to speak a language other than English?

No. All SEIUM Institute programmes are taught in English, which is the main language of most South African engineering workplaces and professional registration processes.

Methodology, software & labs

How you'll learn

100% online training on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable materials, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. There are no fixed timetables: you progress at your own pace within the intake, so you can combine it with work.

Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standards and applied exercises. The working tools are Fluke 1587 FC (insulation tester), Prevengos risk assessment software, ETAP (arc-flash study) and manufacturer technical information platforms, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Exercises are based on real procedures: drafting an isolation procedure, inspecting personal protective equipment and auditing workshop safety. Assessment is continuous by module plus the final integrating project.

Standards covered: Real Decreto 614/2001, UNE-EN 50110-1, ISO 6469-3, Ley 31/1995, UNE-EN 60903, UNE-EN 60900, UNE-EN 61243-3, DGUV Information 209-093.

Assigned technical tutor:every module ends with a deliverable that your tutor marks individually.
Standards-based learning:guided reading of Real Decreto 614/2001, UNE-EN 50110-1 and ISO 6469-3 applied to real cases, not as a theoretical annex.
Industry software:Fluke 1587 FC (insulation tester), Prevengos risk assessment software, ETAP (arc-flash study), Manufacturer technical information platforms, in free, academic or evaluation versions.
Final project:a high-voltage safety system for a workshop, with risk assessment, written procedures, protective equipment, training, permits and an audit plan, reviewed by your tutor.
Flexible format:100% online, no fixed timetables, compatible with full-time work.
