Course in Circular Economy and Mobility Insurance — studying from the United States

Insurance and risk analysis are central to the American financial system, with major hubs in Hartford, New York, Chicago and Des Moines. Insurers, reinsurers and consulting firms rely on actuarial models, catastrophe modeling and data analytics to price risk and manage capital. Engineers with quantitative skills contribute to underwriting, claims analysis and risk assessment for sectors such as automotive, aviation and property. State insurance regulators and professional credentialing bodies shape the profession's standards.

Fees for the United States: US$500 (US Dollars), with instalments and employer sponsorship available.

Relevant bodies in the United States

  • National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC)
  • Society of Actuaries (SOA)
  • Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS)
  • American Academy of Actuaries

Typical roles

  • Actuarial Analyst
  • Risk Engineer
  • Catastrophe Modeling Analyst
  • Underwriting Data Analyst

Questions from the United States

Which US bodies govern actuarial and risk credentials, and is SEIUM recognized?

Actuarial credentials in the US are overseen by the Society of Actuaries and the Casualty Actuarial Society, with professional standards linked to the American Academy of Actuaries. Enrolment-based actuarial and state insurance regulators set the rules for practice. SEIUM's qualifications are private and not accredited by any national body, so recognition for professional actuarial roles is decided by employers or those bodies.

What roles in US insurance and risk management might this training support?

Typical roles include risk analyst, data scientist in insurance, reliability or catastrophe modelling specialist, and underwriting analytics. Insurers, reinsurers, brokers, and consultancies hire for these skills. Whether a private qualification carries weight depends on the employer, so reviewing job descriptions and asking hiring managers is the most reliable way to judge fit.

How is the programme delivered for someone working in US time zones?

Programmes are fully online and taught in English, with an assigned technical tutor and a final project. Because the study is asynchronous to a degree, you can often fit sessions around US working hours, though you should confirm schedule details with the institute. Instalment payment plans are available, and employer sponsorship may be possible for eligible students.

How you'll learn

Delivered 100 % online through the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. There are no fixed timetables: students progress at their own pace within the enrolment period, which makes it possible to combine the course with work.

Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is GT Motive, Audatex, openLCA, advanced Excel, in free, academic or evaluation versions. The exercises are based on real loss-assessment procedures covering repair versus replacement, lifecycle analysis of recovered parts, and evaluation of circular workshop networks. Assessment is continuous across each module, plus the final integrated project.

Accredited laboratories(EN ISO/IEC 17025) with rotor test rig, EMC/Lightning pre-compliance, HIL/SIL, vibration/acoustics.
Evidence-based final project:safety case, test plan, compliance dossier and operational limits.
Industry mentoring:lecturers with experience in training, , eVTOL/UAM and flight test.
Flexible format(hybrid/online), international cohorts and support from SEIUM Career Services.
Ethics and safety:safety-by-design approach, ciber-OT, DIH and compliance as core pillars.
