How you'll learn
100 % online training on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded lessons and an assigned technical tutor. There are no fixed timetables: students progress at their own pace within the intake, which allows them to combine it with work.
Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD/EMTDC, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PLECS, ETAP, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Tests are studied using real procedures for converter hardware-in-the-loop testing, grid code compliance studies and voltage dip testing. Assessment is continuous, module by module, plus the final integrating project.
Build it end to end
Your final project follows the real engineering workflow, step by step, reviewed by your tutor.
Describe the electrical architecture of a marine power plant.
Analyse the topology and operation of power converters.
Design generator and turbine control loops.
Assess compliance with grid connection requirements.
Configure plant control for active power, reactive power and frequency.
