Methodology, software & labs

How you'll learn

100% online programme on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable materials, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. There are no fixed timetables: you progress at your own pace within each intake, so you can combine it with your job.

Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is Josev, EVerest, Wireshark, OpenSSL and Keysight Scienlab Charging Discovery System, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Tests are studied on real procedures: rolling out Plug & Charge across a charging network, debugging a failed ISO 15118 session and designing a test certificate chain. Assessment is continuous by module, plus the final capstone project.

Standards covered: ISO 15118-1, ISO 15118-2, ISO 15118-20, ISO 15118-3, IEC 61851-1, Regulation (EU) 2023/1804, IEC 63110-1, ISO/SAE 21434.

Assigned technical tutor:every module ends with a deliverable that your tutor marks individually.
Standards-based learning:guided reading of ISO 15118-1, ISO 15118-2 and ISO 15118-20 applied to real cases, not as a theoretical annex.
Industry software:Josev, EVerest, Wireshark, OpenSSL and Keysight Scienlab Charging Discovery System, in free, academic or evaluation versions.
Final project:a Plug & Charge deployment project covering architecture, PKI, message flow, cybersecurity risks and test plan, reviewed by your tutor.
Flexible format:100% online, no fixed timetables, compatible with full-time work.
Capstone project

Build it end to end

Your final project follows the real engineering workflow, step by step, reviewed by your tutor.

Decode EXI messages
Decode and interpret ISO 15118 EXI-encoded messages across the V2G communication stack.
Run a Plug & Charge session
Walk through a complete Plug & Charge session, from contract certificates to automatic authorisation.
Build a test certificate chain
Design and generate a V2G test certificate chain and analyse its life cycle.
Simulate a charging session
Configure a scheduled charging profile with ISO 15118-20 and simulate a session with an open-source stack.
Final project
Plan a Plug & Charge deployment with its architecture, PKI, message flow, risk analysis, test plan and roadmap.

A SEIUM Institute certificate, awarded on passing the continuous assessment and the final project. It is SEIUM's own qualification, not an official state degree; its recognition depends on the programme completed and the regulations of each country.

Yes. Modules passed are recognised in a higher programme in the same area (postgraduate diploma or master's). Ask about the recognition policy when you enrol.

No prior qualification is required: you need an internet connection, a computer able to run the programme software and English sufficient to read technical standards.
