Restoration Course for Classic 2-Wheel BMW Motorcycles — studying from India

India has a strong heritage of classic vehicles, motorcycles and machinery, with active enthusiast communities and specialist workshops in Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Bengaluru and Chennai. Interest in vintage cars and motorcycles, including classic Ambassador and Royal Enfield models, has grown steadily. Restoration work combines historical research, metalwork, mechanical rebuilding and conservation techniques. While formal regulation is limited, vehicle registration and roadworthiness fall under state transport authorities, and the Automotive Research Association of India provides technical expertise. Engineers and craftspeople in this area focus on restoration, documentation and technical authenticity.

Fees for India: ₹68,400 (Indian Rupee), with instalments and employer sponsorship available.

Relevant bodies in India

  • Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI)
  • Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH)
  • Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS)
  • Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH)

Typical roles

  • Classic Vehicle Restorer
  • Restoration Engineer
  • Vintage Vehicle Technician
  • Heritage Conservation Specialist

Questions from India

Is there a recognised body in India for classic vehicle restoration?

There is no statutory title for classic restoration in India. Vehicle standards and registration involve bodies such as the Automotive Research Association of India, and enthusiast clubs operate informally. SEIUM's qualification is a private one and is not accredited by any national body, so its value depends on how employers and clients see it.

Which employers or clients in India use classic restoration skills?

Specialist restoration workshops, collectors, classic car dealers, and heritage motoring firms are typical employers and clients. Work is often based on reputation and a portfolio of completed restorations. A private qualification may support your background, but clients and employers will judge your actual craftsmanship.

Can I study this part-time from India, and is it in English?

The programme is 100% online and taught in English, so you need a working level of English. You can study from home anywhere in India without a student visa, and an assigned technical tutor supports you. Fees are payable in instalments, and employer sponsorship is possible if your workplace will fund it.

Methodology, software & labs

How you'll learn

100% online training on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. No fixed timetable: the student progresses at their own pace within the intake, which makes it possible to combine with work.

Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is advanced Excel (engine measurements), PicoScope (ignition diagnostics), Fusion 360 (replica parts), HaynesPro WorkshopData, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Tests are studied on real boxer engine rebuild procedures, carburettor synchronisation and shaft drive transmission inspection. Assessment is continuous per module plus the final integrative project.

Accredited laboratories(EN ISO/IEC 17025) with rotor balancing rig, EMC/Lightning pre-compliance, HIL/SIL, vibration/acoustics.
Evidence-driven final project:safety case, test plan, compliance dossier and operational limits.
Industry mentoring:lecturers with experience in the training, , eVTOL/UAM and flight test.
Flexible format(hybrid/online), international cohorts and support from SEIUM Career Services.
Ethics and safety:safety-by-design approach, cyber-OT, DIH and compliance as core pillars.
