Course in Road Traffic Accident Investigation — studying from India
Regulatory compliance, safety assessment and homologation are essential across India's automotive, aerospace, rail, energy and medical sectors. Vehicle type approvals are issued under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, with testing support from the Automotive Research Association of India and the International Centre for Automotive Technology. The Bureau of Indian Standards issues product certification through the Standard Mark scheme. Reliability, availability, maintainability and safety engineers work on RAMS programmes for critical infrastructure, while homologation specialists manage certification pathways for exports and domestic launches.
Fees for India: ₹57,900 (Indian Rupee), with instalments and employer sponsorship available.

Questions from India
Which Indian bodies handle regulation, safety and homologation, and is this qualification recognised?
Vehicle homologation involves ARAI and AIS standards, and product standards involve the Bureau of Indian Standards. Sector regulators vary by industry. SEIUM's qualification is a private one, not an official degree, and it is not accredited by any national body in India, so recognition is for employers and the relevant body to decide.
Which employers in India hire for RAMS and homologation roles?
Automotive, aerospace, railway, defence, and medical device companies, along with testing and certification consultancies, are typical employers. Hiring depends on each employer's requirements and their own assessment of experience. A private qualification may help your profile, but it does not guarantee a role.
Is this course workable alongside a job in India, and what are the study conditions?
The programme is online and taught in English, so you can study while employed and do not need a student visa to study from home. Each student is assigned a technical tutor and completes a final project. Fees are payable in instalments, and employer sponsorship is possible.

How you'll learn
A 100% online programme on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. There are no fixed timetables: students progress at their own pace within the intake, which allows the programme to be combined with work.
Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is PC-Crash, Virtual CRASH, Bosch CDR (Crash Data Retrieval), FARO Zone 3D, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Tests are studied using real inspection procedures for accident scenes, EDR data download and kinematic reconstruction. Assessment is continuous across each module, plus the final integrative project.
Build it end to end
Your final project follows the real engineering workflow, step by step, reviewed by your tutor.
Describe the basic concepts of road accidentology.
Apply on-site inspection and evidence documentation methods.
Use physics principles to calculate speeds and trajectories.
Interpret vehicle event data recorder data.
Simulate accidents using reconstruction software.

Frequently asked questions
The programme consists of 300 hours in total, spread over 3 to 5 months. That is between 10 and 15 hours per week on average, compatible with a full-time job.
The programme uses PC-Crash, Virtual CRASH, Bosch CDR (Crash Data Retrieval) and FARO Zone 3D. Free, academic or evaluation versions are used, and the tutor indicates the free alternative where one exists.
An SEIUM own diploma upon passing the continuous assessment and the integrative project. This is in-house training, not an official qualification from the Ministry.
Yes. Modules passed in a course or postgraduate diploma in the same area are credited towards the advanced programme. Please check the credit transfer policy when you enrol.
