Front and Side Airbags Course: Design and Testing
300-hour online course in front and side airbags: design and testing. 6 modules with UNECE Regulation No. 94 (frontal impact), UNECE Regulation No. 95 (side impact) and LS-DYNA. Dedicated tutor and open enrolment.
Take the controls.
Run a real engineering trade-off from this field. Move the sliders, watch the model react in real time and beat the challenge.
What you will be able to do
Describe passive restraint systems.
Analyse the components of the airbag.
Design front airbags.
Design side and curtain airbags.
Simulate deployment and occupant interaction.
Plan validation tests.
Develop an airbag design in the final project.

How you'll learn
100 % online training on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded lectures and a dedicated technical tutor. No fixed timetable: students progress at their own pace within the intake, which makes it possible to combine the course with work.
Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is LS-DYNA, MADYMO, ANSA, MATLAB, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Tests are studied using real procedures for static deployment testing, dummy sled crash testing and impact module testing. Assessment is continuous, module by module, plus the final integrative project.
Build it end to end
Your final project follows the real engineering workflow, step by step, reviewed by your tutor.
Describe passive restraint systems.
Analyse the components of the airbag.
Design front airbags.
Design side and curtain airbags.
Simulate deployment and occupant interaction.
Where this takes you

Frequently asked questions
The programme totals 300 hours, spread over 3 to 5 months. That is an average of 10 to 15 hours per week, compatible with full-time work.
The course uses LS-DYNA, MADYMO, ANSA and MATLAB. Free, academic or evaluation versions are used, and the tutor indicates the free alternative where one exists.
A SEIUM own diploma upon passing the continuous assessment and the integrative project. It is in-house training, not an official Ministry qualification.
Yes. Modules passed in a course or postgraduate diploma in the same area are recognised in the advanced programme. Check the recognition policy when you enrol.
