Methodology, software & labs

How you'll learn

A 100% online programme on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. There are no fixed timetables: you progress at your own pace within each intake, so you can combine it with your job.

Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is MSC Adams, Simcenter Amesim, Project Chrono and MATLAB/Simulink, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Testing is studied through real procedures: tilt-table stability testing, obstacle and trench crossing, and traction measurement with different locking configurations. Assessment is continuous by module, plus the final project.

Standards covered: ISO 8855, SAE J2180, UNECE Regulation No. 111, ISO 5010, ISO 3471, ISO 16231-2.

Assigned technical tutor:every module ends with a deliverable that your tutor marks individually.
Standards-based learning:guided reading of ISO 8855, SAE J2180 and UNECE Regulation No. 111 applied to real cases, not as a theoretical annex.
Industry software:MSC Adams, Simcenter Amesim, Project Chrono and MATLAB/Simulink, in free, academic or evaluation versions.
Final project:The design and analysis of a multi-axle vehicle for a defined mission, with mobility, stability and simulation studies, reviewed by your tutor.
Flexible format:100% online, no fixed timetables, compatible with full-time work.
Capstone project

Build it end to end

Your final project follows the real engineering workflow, step by step, reviewed by your tutor.

Mission and architecture
Define the mission and select the multi-axle vehicle architecture.
Driveline and running gear
Specify the transmission, suspension and steering for the chosen layout.
Mobility analysis
Assess obstacle, trench and soft-soil performance using mobility indices.
Stability and simulation
Determine the rollover threshold and validate behaviour in a multibody simulation.
Final project
Technical report and presentation of the complete vehicle concept, reviewed by your tutor.
