Course in Subsea Welding and Advanced Techniques
Online course of 300 hours in subsea welding and advanced techniques. 6 modules covering wet and dry hyperbaric welding, friction and laser techniques, quality, inspection and safety to AWS D3.6M and ISO 15618, and an underwater repair project, with an assigned technical tutor.
Take the controls.
Run a real engineering trade-off from this field. Move the sliders, watch the model react in real time and beat the challenge.
What you will be able to do
Explain the metallurgical effects of pressure and water on welding.
Apply the wet welding technique in accordance with AWS D3.6M.
Plan dry hyperbaric welds in habitats and chambers.
Compare advanced techniques such as friction welding and laser welding.
Qualify procedures and welder-divers in accordance with ISO 15618.
Define inspection and safety plans for underwater work.
Design a welded repair of a subsea structure.

How you'll learn
A 100% online programme on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. There are no fixed timetables: you progress at your own pace within each intake, so you can combine it with your job.
Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is ESI SYSWELD, Simufact Welding, Abaqus and Thermo-Calc, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Testing is studied through real procedures for qualifying a wet welding procedure, inspecting welds with underwater techniques and designing an underwater structural repair. Assessment is continuous by module plus the final capstone project.
Standards covered: AWS D3.6M, ISO 15618-1, ISO 15618-2, ISO 15614-1, IMCA D 014, DNV-RP-F113 and ISO 9606-1.
Build it end to end
Your final project follows the real engineering workflow, step by step, reviewed by your tutor.
