SUMS Course: software updates management system — studying from Canada
Regulatory compliance, safety assurance and homologation are central to Canadian engineering across transport, energy, medical and industrial sectors. Federal regulators such as Transport Canada, Health Canada and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission set requirements, while the Canadian Standards Association publishes widely adopted technical standards. Reliability, availability, maintainability and safety (RAMS) analysis supports certification and operational assurance. Engineers in this area work for manufacturers, certification bodies and regulators.
Fees for Canada: 1,240 CA$ (Canadian dollar), with instalments and employer sponsorship available.

How you'll learn
100 % online training on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. No fixed timetable: students progress at their own pace within the intake, which makes it possible to combine study with work.
Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is Polarion ALM, PTC Windchill, Jira, Git, in free, academic or evaluation versions. The tests are studied using real procedures for SUMS audits, RXSWIN identifier management and configuration reviews. Assessment is continuous, module by module, plus the final integrating project.
Build it end to end
Your final project follows the real engineering workflow, step by step, reviewed by your tutor.
Explain the SUMS requirements under UN Regulation No. 156.
Define organisational processes for managing updates.
Apply configuration management and RXSWIN identifier management.
Plan the controlled deployment of updates.
Relate the SUMS to the CSMS and ISO 24089.
