Postgraduate Diploma in IBS Integration and Situational Awareness — studying from Canada
Canada's marine sector includes shipbuilding and naval programmes on the Atlantic and Pacific coasts, with yards in Halifax, Saint John and Vancouver. The National Shipbuilding Strategy supports the design and construction of federal vessels. Offshore energy activity is centred on Newfoundland and Labrador and Nova Scotia, while recreational boating and sports nautical manufacturing are active in Ontario and British Columbia. Engineers work on hull design, propulsion, marine systems and classification.
Fees for Canada: 1,390 CA$ (Canadian dollar), with instalments and employer sponsorship available.

Questions from Canada
What language are the programmes taught in?
All programmes are taught in English, which suits engineers working in English-language environments across Canada.
Will this qualification let me use the title Professional Engineer?
No. The title is regulated by provincial engineering regulators such as Professional Engineers Ontario or the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec. Please check their requirements directly before assuming any eligibility.
Take the controls.
Run a real engineering trade-off from this field. Move the sliders, watch the model react in real time and beat the challenge.
What you will be able to do
Differentiate integrated bridge (IBS) and INS architectures.
Assess the integration and redundancy of navigation sensors.

How you'll learn
Fully 100 % online training on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. There are no fixed timetables: students progress at their own pace within the intake, which makes it possible to combine study with work.
Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is Wärtsilä NTPRO, Kongsberg K-Bridge, MATLAB, Wireshark (NMEA network analysis), in free, academic or evaluation versions. Tests are studied using real integrated bridge simulator procedures, radar/ARPA collision-avoidance scenarios and sensor integration tests. Assessment is continuous, module by module, plus the final integrating project.
Build it end to end
Your final project follows the real engineering workflow, step by step, reviewed by your tutor.
Differentiate integrated bridge (IBS) and INS architectures.
Assess the integration and redundancy of navigation sensors.
Apply radar and ARPA functions to collision prevention.
Configure alert management in accordance with MSC.302(87).
Analyse the factors affecting the officer's situational awareness.
