Postgraduate Diploma in Dredging, Bathymetry and Materials Management — studying from Canada
Canada's marine sector includes shipbuilding and naval programmes on the Atlantic and Pacific coasts, with yards in Halifax, Saint John and Vancouver. The National Shipbuilding Strategy supports the design and construction of federal vessels. Offshore energy activity is centred on Newfoundland and Labrador and Nova Scotia, while recreational boating and sports nautical manufacturing are active in Ontario and British Columbia. Engineers work on hull design, propulsion, marine systems and classification.
Fees for Canada: C$2,330 (Canadian dollar), with instalments and employer sponsorship available.

Questions from Canada
Is this programme recognised by professional bodies in Canada for naval and offshore engineering?
SEIUM's qualifications are private, not official state degrees, and are not accredited nationally in Canada. Marine and offshore engineering is linked to bodies such as Engineers Canada and provincial regulators for professional engineering, and to classification societies for vessel certification. Recognition of a private qualification is decided by employers or the relevant body.
Who in Canada might employ graduates of this area?
Employers could include shipyards, offshore energy firms, naval contractors and marine equipment suppliers, as well as sports nautical manufacturers. Each employer decides how it values a private qualification, and sector-specific experience and certifications are often important. Your final project may help demonstrate applied skills, but no job outcome is guaranteed.
What practical factors should I check before enrolling from Canada?
The programme is online and taught in English, so you can study from any Canadian location with no student visa needed. Programmes range from 300 hours to 1,900 hours, so plan your schedule realistically. Fees are payable in instalments, employer sponsorship is possible, and each student is assigned a technical tutor.
Take the controls.
Run a real engineering trade-off from this field. Move the sliders, watch the model react in real time and beat the challenge.
What you will be able to do

How you'll learn
Fully 100% online training on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. No fixed timetables: students progress at their own pace within the intake, making it possible to combine with work.
Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is Hypack, CARIS HIPS and SIPS, QGIS, Delft3D, AutoCAD Civil 3D, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Tests are studied using real procedures for multibeam echosounder surveys, sediment sampling and characterisation, and turbidity monitoring during dredging. Assessment is continuous by module plus the final integrating project.
Build it end to end
Your final project follows the real engineering workflow, step by step, reviewed by your tutor.
Plan bathymetric surveys in accordance with the IHO S-44 standard.
Process multibeam echosounder data and generate seabed models.
Geotechnically characterise the sediments to be dredged.
Select dredging equipment and methods according to material and site.
