Master’s in Asia Type-Approval Engineering — studying from Canada
Regulatory compliance, safety assurance and homologation are central to Canadian engineering across transport, energy, medical and industrial sectors. Federal regulators such as Transport Canada, Health Canada and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission set requirements, while the Canadian Standards Association publishes widely adopted technical standards. Reliability, availability, maintainability and safety (RAMS) analysis supports certification and operational assurance. Engineers in this area work for manufacturers, certification bodies and regulators.
Fees for Canada: C$12,400 (Canadian dollar), with instalments and employer sponsorship available.

Questions from Canada
Is this programme recognised by professional bodies in Canada for regulation and safety work?
SEIUM's qualifications are private, not official state degrees, and are not accredited nationally in Canada. Safety and regulatory roles often rely on recognised professional designations and provincial engineering licensing, such as through Professional Engineers Ontario or Engineers and Geoscientists BC. Recognition of this qualification is decided by employers or the relevant body.
How might employers in Canada view this qualification for RAMS or homologation roles?
Employers in sectors such as transport, energy and manufacturing may be interested in RAMS and homologation knowledge, but they decide how much value to place on a private qualification. Many safety and certification roles also require documented experience and specific credentials. Your final project can help illustrate your skills, though it does not guarantee a position.
What are the practical requirements for studying this from Canada?
Study is 100% online and in English, and no student visa is needed if you study from home. Workloads range from 300 to 1,900 hours, so consider your availability alongside work. Fees are payable in instalments, employer sponsorship is possible, and you are assigned a technical tutor throughout the programme.

How you'll learn
100% online learning on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable material, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. There are no fixed timetables: you progress at your own pace within the intake, so the programme fits around your job.
Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original regulation and applied exercises. The working software is Polarion, SAP Product Lifecycle Management, Vector CANoe and Microsoft Project, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Cases are studied on real procedures: a CCC and MIIT certification roadmap for a passenger car, a type designation file in Japan and a plan for simultaneous type approval in several ASEAN countries. Assessment is continuous by module, plus the final Master's Thesis.
Standards covered: GB 7258-2017, GB 18352.6-2016, CCC certification implementation rules, GB 38031-2025, GB 44495-2024, Japan's Road Transport Vehicle Act, India's Central Motor Vehicles Rules 1989, Korea Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.
