How you'll learn

A 100% online programme on the SEIUM campus, with downloadable materials, recorded classes and an assigned technical tutor. There are no fixed timetables: you progress at your own pace within each intake, so the programme fits around your job.

Each module combines theory, guided reading of the original standard and applied exercises. The working software is MATLAB, dBSea, Simcenter Testlab, ANSYS Mechanical and Python SciPy, in free, academic or evaluation versions. Tests are studied on real cases of radiated noise measurements with hydrophones, transducer calibration and on-board vibration measurements. Assessment is continuous by module plus the final integrating project.

Standards covered: ISO 17208-1, ANSI/ASA S12.64, IEC 60565, ISO 20283-5, IMO Resolution MSC.337(91), Directive 2008/56/EC, DNV Silent Class Notation.

Assigned technical tutor:every module ends with a deliverable that your tutor marks individually.
Standards-based learning:guided reading of ISO 17208-1, ANSI/ASA S12.64 and IEC 60565 applied to real cases, not as a theoretical annex.
Industry software:MATLAB, dBSea, Simcenter Testlab, ANSYS Mechanical and Python SciPy, in free, academic or evaluation versions.
Final project:a complete naval acoustic test project, from source identification to test report, reviewed by your tutor.
Flexible format:100% online, no fixed timetables, compatible with full-time work.
